Criminal Defence Support
If you have been arrested, interviewed under caution, or are facing criminal allegations, obtaining the right legal representation quickly is critical.
Falsely Accused Network provides support and referral pathways to criminal defence solicitors in England and Wales. We are not solicitors and do not provide legal advice. Our role is to help people understand their options and access appropriate criminal defence representation.
When we may be able to help
We may be able to assist by referring you to an appropriate criminal defence solicitor where you are facing allegations or proceedings connected to family, domestic, or intimate-partner situations.
This includes circumstances where you are:
-
Under police investigation
-
Arrested or interviewed under caution
-
On bail or released under investigation (RUI)
-
Charged with a criminal offence
-
Facing allegations arising from a family or relationship breakdown
-
Accused of domestic abuse – related offences
-
Accused of stalking or harassment
-
Accused of sexual offences within a domestic or intimate partner context
-
Dealing with criminal allegations linked to Family Court proceedings
Appeals and CCRC applications
We can also assist by referring individuals who are seeking advice or representation in relation to:
-
Appeals against conviction or sentence
-
Out-of-time appeals
-
Applications to the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC)
Whether you are exploring options following conviction, or considering a formal review of your case, we can help direct you to a criminal defence solicitor experienced in post-conviction work.
Legal aid and private representation
Criminal defence solicitors may, depending on your circumstances, be able to offer representation on a legal aid basis, subject to eligibility and assessment.
In other circumstances, representation may be offered on a private, fee-paying basis.
Eligibility for legal aid, and any private fees, are assessed and agreed directly between you and the solicitor, not by Falsely Accused Network.
